Hey readers! Welcome to my first post i found it very important to write this blog because let's face it sometimes we don't exactly know how to function when starting a new job so here it goes....
For starters unless the job you applied for is the president of the United States or the queen of England you will have to report to someone. So what you need to do is make that person's life as easy as possible and it will only be uphill from there.
Secondly you need to win over your coworkers. So what you need to understand is that you are basically back in high school. Every office has it cliques and so being the new person and wanting to be liked and accepted by everyone can be difficult as your not sure who hates whom, who has the most influence over whom, who is closest to the boss and so your not sure who it would be in your bets interest to be friends with and so you may or may not be eating lunch alone for a couple of days.
So you been at this job for a while they are some key things that you need to do to survive but in this post I'll only address two of the most important ones. First you need to protect your reputation. It's easier said than done trust me but there are a few things you can do to help ease your days along.
Ok to start remember that body language and actual speaking language speaks volume. What do I mean by that you need to project competence you need to pay attention to what you speak how you speak and where you speak and to whom you speak it to. It can translate into you being an immature person and therefore not being taken seriously. Get in early, stay late I don't need to explain that it speaks for itself. Take a break on your social media during the work day what you share a post or video it has a time stamp. At every job there is that one person that get away with everything as in he comes to work late, he does not complete his assignment and he still gets promoted. Here's what you need to do look listen watch and learn there just might be something there that you can learn.
And lastly always and I stress always look like you know what you are doing. You can take comfort in the fact that you were chosen for the job based on your qualifications and so take care in learning the culture of the organization. Keep abreast of everything that current in your field as not to be ignorant to changes occurring and how they affect your daily tasks.
I know it's not much and it only address a few things but I hope this helps when starting your new job!!!!
